Secret Monday: No Glove No Love

Those of you neck deep in The Secret World, like I am, are no doubt aware that the second phase of The Whispering Tide‘s Agartha Invasion started last week. I jumped into the fun as soon as the portal opened, but most of the Knights of Mercy waited until this last Secret Monday to run the Enter the Filth Phase 2 5-man instance ( I really hesitate to call it a dungeon … it’s more of an instantiated group quest).

We had eight folks show up for  Secret Monday (awesome), so we split into two groups for the Normal version of Enter the Filth Phase 2. Rowan and I filled in as Heals and Tank respectively with Wicked, Maric, and Syp bringing the pain. The greatest challenge of the run was picking up the first lore. I wish someone had told me about the trick of spamming U as you fall when I did it, because it took me at least ten attempts to land on that narrow ledge. With that little trick in hand, though, the folks in KoM Fire Team Bravo snagged the lore and then ROFLstomped that second boss.

The last boss gave us a bit of trouble … well, to be more honest Flappy’s IBS gave us trouble, but not so much that it felt frustrating on any level. Getting the second lore, due to my horrendous instructions (I honestly think this is my weakest point as a tank) proved a bit of a challenge; I jumped down one side and part of the group went the other way. I didn’t notice until the swarm of Filthy humans were on them and we had to regroup and make the jump again.

In the end, everyone got their lores. That done, we rejiggered the group for those eligible for the Nightmare version of the quest; we ended up with one extra, so I sat out and PUGed it while KoM FireTeam Alpha did the dance of a thousand poo puddles.

We capped off the night by getting Ocho‘s next Elite finished up: The Darkness War. It had been, for whatever reason, a long time since I’d been back in this dungeon, so I really enjoyed it. The final fight went much smoother than I remember from way back when. For the dungeon run, I traded my hazmat suit for a little number I like to call Shitty Sherlock. That’s me up there next to Mogsy in what I can only assume are her Halloween pajamas, complete with Bunny Slippers.

@Ocho — 8 elites in 3 days — it was pugs, but it was a lot of fun and went well. My friend is still struggling with Oscar, but he’s getting there.

PUG is a 4-letter word in my book. PUG’s aren’t generally receptive to people going in blind if they’ve never been there before. I don’t like cheating by reading up on content before experiencing it, hence why I don’t PUG unless I’ve been there before. I’ve been kicked out of more PUGS by elitist pricks than I can think of because of this, and TSW is especially bad for this, one of the worst, imo.

I haven’t experienced this a great deal in TSW, to be honest, but then again I didn’t start PUGing until I’d done all the dungeons on normal mode a few times with KoM.

Well we advertised straight up that the group was for Elite unlocks, which tells anyone who wishes to join up that the person going in hasn’t ever been there before. I did my elite unlocks as a tank, so doing them as dps this time was completely different and I’ve only ever done the “non-18’s” maybe 3 times, if even that (well maybe more like 8-10 for HE), and all of that was about a year ago. . . I think this has returned me to noob status, but in spite of that the runs went well, the people were helpful, no recriminations for wipes were had. Seemed to me like fun was had by all.

FWIW, if we’re ever on at the same time, I’d be happy to run some elites with you. I’ve got a decent Fist heal build, or I can dps, but ugh, I need some Hit on my tanking gear. . . .

Thanks man. 🙂 The “non-18’s”? That means anything off of Soloman Island, right? With the “18” being the 6 bosses in each SI dungeon?

Yes, in dungeon-running parlance, the “18’s” are the 6 bosses times 3 Solomon Island dungeons. And if you see “24’s” then it’s those 3 dungeons plus Hell Eternal.

I’m very forthcoming with all of this, by the way, I just don’t surprise it on groups, if I’m new or don’t know anything of the encounters.

One time, I joined up a group to run a normal (and I was QL10 by then), and had told the others it was my first time in. Got to the first boss, I asked if there was anything to watch out for, and I was kicked for asking.

Another time, on Normal Ankh, we were doing trash before the last boss, and I was doing my DPS thang. Leader didn’t like me using AoE’s (this was our second run through it, after a successful first run), I said “So? They seem to be working just fine to me”. He said “Well you need to learn to change your build when the leader commands it”. He then kicked me.

I’ve maybe PUGed 3 times in total, and two of those times I had been kicked for seriously ridiculous reasons. The third time was normal Polaris, and I was QL10. The QL3’s didn’t mind my being there. I may try dungeon PUGing again sometime, but I’m not keeping my hopes up for better results.

Seriously. Best LFG channel in any game I’ve ever run across. The whole point of it is that nobody cares about your stats, everyone’s new/inexperienced/in crappy gear, wipes are expected, no one really expects you to kill the Machine Tyrant (Hell Raised 6) so an advertised “18’s” run is more expected to actually be a 17/18 run, and so on. Noobmares was where I got my people from for my friend’s elite unlocks on the 1st 2 nights, and even on the 3rd night I still got 1 from there, though to other 2 actually came from the regular LFG channel in Agartha.

I haven’t had a bad experience in a Noobmares group yet.
