She totally confused all the passing piranhas…

October 20th 2006 in Journal

This actually happened yesterday, which makes it all the more cool. For those keeping score, that’s less than four days, round trip, to get repaired (from VA all the way to CA and back). Apple had it for more than two weeks and couldn’t find anything wrong with it. TechRestore had it less than twenty-four hours and was calling me with a diagnosis and estimate. They got it fixed that same day and shipped, and I had it back in my hot little hands yesterday. That, to me, just absolutely rules. AppleCare Protection Plan? No thanks.

Lumpy is back home and working like he was brand new. Woo!

On the other hand, my protection plan on my laptop has meant that I’ve only had to pay $85 (removal of hard drive) to get the darn thing fixed. So that was way worth it.
And my friend Jeff got a whole new iPod like, 7 hours before his protection plan ran out.
So on anything more’n $300, I’ll still get one from apple.

I’m not saying it wouldn’t have saved me money. But I don’t think such a plan would have ever been invoked on my iPod. Apple insisted nothing was wrong with it. Hard to get your money’s worth when they won’t even admit something is wrong.

(See what I did there? Puns!!!)

Sometimes I wish she was you…

So, TechRestore just called. The hard-drive in my iPod is dying. Funny how Apple couldn’t figure that out. I really seriously wonder whether Apple looked at it at all in the two weeks they had it. When I got it back from Apple, it wasn’t even in working condition: the battery was completely drained, and [...]
