Picture book, of people with each other…
Today is my anniversary. Today marks the day I have been married to my wonderful wife for fifteen whole years. It’s the crystal anniversary, but I wanted to offer her some grand gesture to show my love and appreciation; you know, something goofy, and embarrassing, and public that showed her and everyone else how much I love her. That’s sort of hard to do where we live, though. There isn’t much opportunity to be somewhere public enough to make it count. Then I remembered that there’s this here thing called the Internet.
I contacted my father-in-law a couple of weeks ago and we picked through a song list to find both a song we could do and one that conveyed what I felt. We narrowed it down to the song below. Every time I hear it I think about our lives together and growing old together and watching the world changing around us, together. I present it here so that all of you can share in, with my wife, my embarrassment and my goofiness and the grand gesture of it all. It’s me singing and Corrie Ann’s father playing guitar.
Happy Anniversary, Corrie Ann!
The song is Older Chests, originally written and performed by Damien Rice. Should any one actually wish to download this version, you can command-click or right-click here and select whatever your browser’s equivalent of ‘Save Target As…‘ is.
