So many arms, so little time.

Hey, ho, let’s go…

January 9th 2007 in Journal

Wow. While it may be cause for sadness on many fronts, there is much rejoicing on others (woot!). I’ve been getting tidbits of live coverage from today’s MacWorld 2007 Keynote Address and, as speculated, they’ve announced an iPhone. An hour into demonstration of the device (which runs OS X and links seamlessly with iTunes, Address Book, iCal, iPhoto, &c) Stan Sigman, President and CEO of Cingular Wireless, takes the stage to announce an exclusive partnership between Apple, Inc. (Apple Computer, Inc.’s new name) and Cingular, for the phone.

He said, “We committed to the device without seeing it …

So, for all my non-Cingular friends out there who want this phone … looks like it’s time to raise the bar™ and come on over to the network with the fewest dropped calls. Heheh.

They want $500 for a deposit. FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. Keep your cool phone. *pout*

My daughter just got her Katana from Sprint and is thinking if she waits 2 years to switch over, you guys will get all the bugs worked out.

Oh that’s a good point. Wait for the bugs to go. I’ll have my credit fixed by then…(which it’s nearing 650 now so I don’t know how that requires $500!) and my fiance will be home and he can get a new one too when we sign up. ANNNNNND I need a Mac so I can sync it with all the coolness!!

They need a damn PDA for Macs. I can’t live without mine.

Well, firstly, it’s not us with bugs to work out. This is a 100% Apple, Inc. device. Our GSM network is rock solid; this is just another mobile device to us. Secondly, my experience with Apple is that they release some pretty rock solid hardware, even with first iterations. Not to mention the fact that there is a six month long FCC approval process for the device (which is why it won’t be available until June). I’m not saying there won’t be bugs at all, but I seriously doubt they will be show-stoppers, or even more than minor annoyance type bugs, just as with any mobile device.

As to needing a Mac, I don’t think you’ll need one for all the syncing goodness, but it would certainly make things much less painful given the history of iPods and PCs.

Now, that’s not to say you should rush out and get one as soon as they are available, but I will be. Heehee.

Whenever you can enlighten me on this whole deposit thing…I’ll be there for that. I can even go get a Verizon without deposit.

I honestly don’t know. I work in IT. I don’t have anything to do with rate plans or subsciptions or anything of that sort. :(

So your master plan is revealed. You drag your feet for weeks on getting a new work assigned blackberry. Your boss gets so frustrated with you he basically throws an old one at you and demands you activate it.

You’ll be first up for an upgrade when the iphone hits the cingular warehouse.

Now THAT’S Pirattude!!

Will it work in Korea?

I think the European release is slated for some time later in the year or early next year, so maybe after then? I imagine any deal for the European market or the Asian market would be with a different carrier. I really don’t know though.

I wonder if it has a longer lifespan than the average iPod? But yes, very shiny.

iPods have a lifespan? Oh dear…how long is it? I’ve dropped mine off the eliptical machine like 5 times and it’s still good so far…Anyhow…I just want an excuse to get the new nano…though now I want a new phone…argh…stupid Cingular.

Shake it like a bowl of soup…

This is probably a little late for most folks for today, given that lunch is only a couple hours away, but I wanted to let all of you in the Piedmont Triad area know that I am declaring today the first, and I hope not the last, Phở Phriday. Look, I made a logo:

Now, I’m [...]

Ooh, you’re a dark one. Sitting in the corner, singing to yourself, playing with matches and twitching. Most of the time you instinctively avoid company, and if you’re forced into close proximity, things do not go well. You can probably stop stabbing that teddy bear now. It’s not going anywhere. What’s your malfunction?
